WPS Powerhouse

Wausau, WI

The WPS Powerhouse project involves the transformation of a historic power plant, originally constructed between 1904 and 1918, with minimal updates since the 1980s. The existing 12,000-square-foot structure, spanning four levels, will be repurposed into a vibrant hub for business and community engagement. The design includes flexible presentation spaces, social areas, rentable offices and conference rooms, a catering kitchen, a spacious outdoor deck, multiple patios, and a newly developed parking lot.

A new elevator tower will ensure accessibility across all levels, while modern HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems will support the building’s updated functionality. The project places a strong emphasis on preserving the site's historical significance by salvaging and repurposing original Ringle brick, exposed steel structures, and other elements. These historic features will be thoughtfully integrated with modern design to honor the building’s past while embracing its future purpose.
